Thomas Evans was the administrator at Jonathan Tosh's death along with being Jonathan and Thomas Tosh's guardian. In the different documents associated with Jonathan Tosh, Thomas Tosh, and the Tosh Estate, the statement "to rent and hire due this day" is repeated throughout. Some of these entries directly mention "slaves" while others do not. This "rent and hire" could have meant that land was rented out and enslaved people were hired to work that land, though the record does not clearly state whether or not enslaved people were involved in these transactions. All of these entries have different dollar amounts and continue to appear throughout the documents associated with Jonathan Tosh, Thomas Tosh, and the Tosh Estate.
