- Additional Information
- In the Birth Register, B. T. Tinsley is listed as the former enslaver of Martha Shovely, Douglas Shovely, Charles, Caroline Wright, and Lara.
- Nelson labored for 46 days at a pay rate of $16.00 per month and Joseph for 62 days at $20.00 per month. Tinsley received $24.53 and $41.33 for the work they completed, respectively.
- In Common Law Book E, it is stated that William M. Peyton left "lot of negroes" to B. J. Tinsley. Later in the record, Tinsley would "take charge" of a woman enslaved by James Whitten named Sarah for $40.00 a year. The Overseer of the Poor was authorized to pay Tinsley for her annual support. He was eventually released from her supply and maintenance, and Sarah was forced to go back to the county poorhouse.
