Additional Information

Sarah Bett's will notates a clause that if any "slaves" are born from her willed enslaved individuals, they are to remain within the family of "owners" to their heirs forever.

Sarah Betts' will indicated that Marrian and her children Julian, Maria, and Evaline to be equally divided.

Asked executors to sell Bill, William, Adam, William, Lawson, Heaton and Caeiar. They are permitted to choose their "master" upon sale.

Enslaved family of Claiborn and Anne Scott, as well as their infant Sally Betts Scott, are granted the option of freedom or remaining with the family at the risk of being sold. This was a first step in the manumission of the Scott family.

Sarah Betts bequeathed the above listed enslaved people to the below enslavers (see enslaved peoples specific description to see how was bequeathed who.)

In the will of Sarah Betts found in IAS Book 3, it mentions Elizabeth Dufong as her niece. In the will it is listed Elizabeth as someone who would receive the proceeds from Juby, Cyphax, Ishmael, and Royall after they would be sold.
