- In Common Law Book F, it is stated that Richard H. Phillips would teach W. Alexander, an apprentice, until he was 21 years old to learn farming, reading, writing, and arithmetic in the process. He was to be provided with clothing as well as given a suit at the end of his apprenticeship. The record does not specify if Phillips was Alexander's enslaver or if Alexander was a free boy.
