- In Shepard's will, it is recorded that he bequeathed enslaved people to his daughter Catharine Hickle, his "other" daughter Susan Brown, and his third daughter Mary Thomas. It is also recorded in the sale book that, "remaining slaves not to be sold out to different families."

- In Shephard's will he bequeathed Jim, Elias, Susan, Stephan and Matilda to his three daughters as well as his grandson, whose name was not recorded. His will states that a remaining unidentified enslaved people were to be "sold, divided, and families split for the highest profit." While this contradicts the sale bill from IAS Book 1, since this will comes from a later time period it is likely this instruction was followed over the instruction from the sale bill.
- In IAS Book 2 it is recorded that Michael Shepard bequeathed Nancy and her child, Amanda and her child, Jerry, Harriet, John, Sam, Ann, Joe, and Eliza to members of his family or his friends. This includes Susan Brown, Elizabeth Evans, John Sheppard, and his daughter Catharine Hickle.
