Henry registered twice at 23 and 34 years old. His height was listed as 5 feet 6 inches tall. Common Law Book A records Henry at 23 years old. He was regarded as "born of free parents and...registered according to law as a free man entitled to all of the privileges to which free negroes and mulattos are by law entitled."
The enslaved people listed in his will were to all remain together on Chapman's plantation. In Chapman's will it was requested that the enslaved people work for a year on the plantation after their enslaver passed away to, "bring the plantation to good standing and then to all be sold."
Henry Brown was indicted for breaking and entering into a storehouse to commit larceny, and he plead not guilty. He was found guilty, and his sentence was to be in "the penitentiary to be one year."
