In Common Law Book D was a Court of Oyer against Aaron and Billy Brown, two enslaved men charged with larceny. Collin, Betsey, Charles, and Tom were all asked to appear in court.
In Common Law Book F, Tom is listed as having been an apprentice to William B. Preston. He was set to learn farming, reading, writing, and common arithmetic in the process. He was to be provided with clothing as well as given a suit at the end of his apprenticeship.
Tom could also be Sam, who was seen in the death registry as a son of Rachael. He was enslaved by John Williamson, as well. According to the record, Sam would have been born in August of 1853, making Sam and Tom the same person.
In the IAS book 1, no valuation was listed for Tom and Charles. Tom and Charles were listed alongside one another, likely due to the fact neither of them had a value placed upon them. This lack of valuation may indicate that they were disabled, elderly, or infirm.
While IAS book 2 mentions an Amanda bequeathed to Laura Reed, and an Amanda connected to Little Tom bequeathed to Nugent M. Reed and Ann W. Dennis, who are assumed to be separate people. However, in Will Book 1 a woman named Amanda was bequeathed to Laura Reed, and then "the children of Amanda and little Tom together" were bequeathed to Nugent M. Reed. Thus, Amanda may have been one person who was separated from her children. While they have been input as two separate people, you can view the information for the other Amanda bequeathed to Laura Reed attached below.
